OS is a set of programs that coordinates all the data transmissions among computer.

3 types of OS:

i. Stand-Alone OS

ii. Network OS

iii. Embedded OS

Functions of OS:

i. starting a computer

ii. Provide a user interface

iii. Managing programs

iv. Managing memory

v. Configuring devices
